This week has been significantly better than last week but the truth is every week brings its own set of challenges and being able to see those in a positive light is the key to (my) success. My mom came to visit at the beginning and tail end of the week and I spent a good part of it cooking up a storm. While I was able to make these AMAZING Salmon Empanadas, I actually didn’t meal prep at all for the week (!!) which made lunches and dinner more stressful nd expensive than they needed to be. I’m determined not to make the same mistake again AND will be sharing my meal prep process for you next week.
I’m usually so on top of my Mother’s Day planning but this year I slacked off BIG TIME. I could blame it on the trip or being sick afterwards but if I’m truly being honest this new digital age has me maxing and relaxing when it comes to holidays and birthdays. Why?? Because I never need to stress when I have tons of tricks up my sleeve like my go-to mother’s day gifts that require zero shipping and zero stress. If you were like me this year then you are in LUCK!!
Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts
Zappos Gift Card – every year for my Stepmom’s birthday I get her a Zappos gift card. Unlike most gift cards which are kind of boring and sometimes don’t even get used, I know my shoe loving stepmom looks forward to her yearly gift card and can’t wait to spend her gift. One year she told me she even had shoes in her inbox for days before her birthday! Trust me- it’s a thoughtful and VERY useful gift.
Groupon – This year for Mother’s Day I’m getting my stepmom some local Zumba classes. She’s mentioned her desire to want to go to classes to me before and this is the perfect opportunity to let her know that I was listening!! Fortunately for me, Groupon makes this so painless for me! I just put in their zip code and find great local and inexpensive options. I got my mom painting classes from Groupon last year and even got my aunt and her family tickets to a local museum 2 christmases ago. I love gifting experiences and Groupon makes it so easy for me to accomplish.
The Bouqs Monthly Flower Delivery – If you’ve got money to spend why not get your mom a monthly flower delivery. For flower lovers (like myself) this is such a fun treat. You can set it up for just a few months and every month they’ll be surprised and delighted by a beautifully crafted bouquet. This is also great for birthdays and anniversaries (hint, hint)!
A Monthly Beauty Subscription Box – There are sooooo many options out there- from Ipsy to Birchbox to Julep to lower cost options from six box retailers like Walmart and Target, these Subscription boxes are a win/win! You can set it up, send the alert to their emails, and have months of gifts coming to their doors for months.
Homemade/Handmade/Made with Love – The best gifts?? Grab some supplies around the house and make something with your two hands. I know, personally the only present I really want this year is something made by Julian with his two beautiful hands. I know he puts so much hard work into whatever he makes and it’s something I’ll treasure forever. Last year my husband knocked it out of the park with a sound wav of our son saying “mama”- one of the only words he could speak a year ago. Now, as I type this, he just told me to “go away, mama” (insert side eye emoji). The beauty of handmade presents is capturing a moment in time. I don’t know what I’ll get this year but it will always be a reminder of who he was at this exact moment in time. I truly can’t wait!
To all the mama’s out there- wishing you the happiest and most relaxing Mother’s Day- you deserve it!
So that’s this week’s Fave Five! What’s your go-to last minute gift??
