As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, this week was difficult but I’m looking at the bright side and looking forward to the weekend where I’m going to be doing the absolute opposite of what I did this week: Meal planning, here I come!!
However, toddler-wise, I’m sticking with what we’ve got going on because, save for a few “to be expected” toddler moments, J and I have gotten into an awesome groove. We’ve gotten back to our daily learning sessions and have found new ways to keep it fresh and fun. I’m looking forward to continuing more of that as summer approaches and taking our learning outdoors.
I’m also looking forward to hopefully taking some photos this weekend. I have yet to take Julian’s 2 year photos or our 2 year family photos, even though tomorrow marks his 1 month anniversary as a 2 year old. I’m hoping this rainy weather can stay away long enough for us to enjoy a few hours snapping away and taking in some of what Spring has brought to the Botanical Gardens.
But, before we do that, we need to cap off this week. Here’s what I’m loving this week:
THIS WEEK’S “FAVE FIVE”
Want/Need: For Julian’s birthday I’d wanted to purchase him a personalized chalkboard from Chalkfull of Design. Fortunately for me Lindsay, the shop’s owner who just had a baby (!!!), put a call out last week looking for toddler mama’s who wanted to have their babes try out her product for an awesome discount. I was ALL OVER IT! In just a few short weeks I’ll have that plus 2 other board coming my way.
J has been writing letters since just before 18 months old so I just know that not only will he love this, it will be an awesome educational tool! Also, I mean, how awesome are these???
You can pick them up for yourself here. I personally think they make the PERFECT 2nd or 3rd (or any really) birthday gift.
Wear: Finally, after days of rain, we were greeted by the sun. Still, the mornings are chilly and the afternoons can be brutally warm. That calls for one thing: layers! We’ve been enjoying wearing our hoodies, jacket’s, and layered tees the past few days. I know it will only be a few more weeks before it will be hot morning, noon, and night.
This jacket from the Gap (on sale right now for $29.99 and even cheaper with a coupon code) is the perfect piece to get you through this season. Best of all, with Gap’s generous sizing I bet it will still fit come Fall. (J’s jacket has fit him now for over a year!)
Read: Julian has just become enamored with Franklin the turtle after we borrowed this book from the library. We’ve been reading it before every nap and bedtime and he loves how familiar all the stories (they all begin the same) but how much he can relate to him (Julian too can eat cookies until he drops, not that he’s ever been given the chance).
Between eating it on our toast or tossing the juice into our Brussel Sprouts, these magical seeds have kept us happy all week long!
Play: This week we’ve had a ton of fun playing with our kinetic sand. From using it as a sensory bin to hide letters and match them on the chalkboard, to morning play with the sand and his mini construction vehicles, this stuff has become one of our fave play things. Best of all, it’s a cinch to clean! Just pinch it together in your fingers and all of it comes up, like magic!
I bought two 1.5 lb bags because they came out cheaper than buying the 2 lb bag. It’s just enough for some mom + J playtime but I could see buying another bag down the line.
So that’s this week’s Fave Five! What are you loving this week??
