My dear sweet boy, this summer was full of so many magical moments! Where do I begin?
We spent the summer rolling around in the grass, smelling flowers, and getting dirt under our fingernails. You learned to climb stairs and run like the wind. Everything was new to you, and that made us view it with new eyes too. You marveled at the insects flying and buzzing around you, pointed out every plane, car, and bus that passed by, and now you can identify and mimic each one. You swell with pride each day you learn something new. You love to learn so much and are expanding your knowledge so much with each passing day!
You turned your father into a kiter and your mom into a nature lover. You turned your grandparents into children again and made them smile with each silly sentence or funny dance. Simply put, you amazed us this summer.
That tummy of yours got bigger as you ate so many new foods this summer. From seafood to cookies to fries to new fruits and vegetables, you enjoyed it all with gusto. I no longer get overwhelmed by your appetite and instead look on in admiration. It makes me so happy to see you trying a new food or us sharing a meal as a family. You love to say “mmmmmm” and let everyone around you know how much you’re enjoying your meal.
You overwhelmed your dads heart this summer. Every few days you’d show him the new thing you can do or word you learned. Boy, are you becoming a chatterbox. This summer you truly expanded your vocabulary. You also continue to be an avid book reader. During the hottest days of the summer we could be found indoors reading book after book, and sometimes the same book over and over. We don’t mind one bit and love watching you follow along or identify things in your favorite books like birds, balloons, dogs, or cars. You’ve begun finishing sentences from your favorite stories and each time it makes us want to hug you so much!
You’ve become so affectionate. You truly have such a warm and open heart and I can’t believe how much kindness and love you show to your family and to strangers. You must get that from your dad as he’s the same way. It makes me emotional each time you share a bite of your favorite food with me or see your happy face when you give me an acorn or flower you’ve picked. You have a deep desire to show love and to see others happy and be happy yourself. You’re teaching me to be kinder and gentler both as a parent and as a woman.
I was finding it hard to say goodbye to this summer because I don’t believe another like it could ever exist. Of course that’s the truth but it’s also true another Fall will never exist like the one we’re about to experience. We explored, laughed, learned, and had so much fun this summer. While you will likely not remember this summer, I hope you’ll see these photos one day and know that in our effort to share experiences as a family and make you happy this summer, we’ve made life long memories we will hold dear in our hearts for our entire lifetime.
